Pupil Premium and PE and Sport Premium Funding


Pupil Premium

The pupil premium funding was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years. The government believes that the pupil premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for FSM and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

Schools are free to spend the pupil premium as they see fit, but are held accountable for how they have used the additional funding. They are required to publish online information about how they have used it.

PE and Sport Premium


The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. The government is spending £150 million a year on schools. See below for how we have allocated the funding:
