Sports Day

Wednesday 5th July was All Saints' Annual Sports Day. It was a glorious day all round, with children involved in a wide variety of activities. In the morning, they took part in 'Round Robin' which involved the children competing in obstacle races, dribbling footballs and hockey balls around cones, jumping and throwing as far as they could and generally having a great time!

The afternoon saw the more traditional sports day races with all children competing in the sprinting, egg and spoon and obstacle relay. The sun was out, making the shared picnic at lunch that much nicer, with parents enjoying time with their children out on the field.

Tag Rugby Champions!

On Friday 23rd June, a team from All Saints’ attended a Tag Rugby Tournament at Leamington Rugby Club. The children competed against many schools from Warwickshire and played really well, winning their first match convincingly. As with last year, the winner was not decided upon how many matches a team had won but was more about the conduct of the players both on and off the pitch. All players were exceptionally behaved and competed to the best of their ability at all times. They were a credit to the school and it was absolutely fantastic when it was announced that we were the champions once again! It was a truly great day of sport for all involved and the children should be very proud of their achievements.

Athletics Championships

All Saints’ pupils’ performed exceptionally well at the Edmonscote Athletics Championships on Thursday 29th June with Faith coming 1st and Esme 2nd in the throwing event and Tyler coming 2nd in the 800 metres.  Well done to everyone who took part.

Kids Run Free!

On Thursday 29th June, 22 children, selected from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, represented All Saints Junior in the Kids Run Free Festival of Running at Edmondscote Athletics track. To start with, they all competed in a race with other children from their year group, with Aaron from Year 4 coming in 3rd place in his race and Toby from Year 6 winning his! After that, all children from all year groups ran around the track, collecting lap bands as they went. Altogether, our team ran 80,000m! That's nearly 2 marathons in one morning! It was a great effort and a great morning of sport.

Anyone for tennis!

Children across all year groups have been taking part in the Central Warwickshire tennis event at Leamington Tennis Club. They each played several matches and all played really well, doing All Saints' Junior school proud.

Tennis and Athletics Festival

On Tuesday 13th June, 14 children from years 3-6 attending the Tennis and Athletics Festival hosted at Campion School. Along with students from other schools in the local area, they competed in a variety of athletics events and were able to play tennis with each other. It was a great afternoon of sport, enabling the children to participate in these activities. They were brilliantly behaved and all received a certificate for their efforts.

Den Day for Save the Children

Den Day was on Friday 16th June.  Schools across the UK built dens whilst learning about the importance of shelter and raising money to safe lives.  The children had a fabulous day building dens on the school field.  Thank you to everyone who donated materials for the event.  We raised a total of £173.50 for Save the Children.

Rounders Competition

On Friday 16th June, an enthusiastic team from years 5 and 6  competed in the Level 2 Rounders Competition at Bishops Tachbrook Primary School. Along with us, there were 8 other teams all competing for the top spot. We played 4 group matches (won 2, lost 2; one match by only half a rounder!) and then we found ourselves in a play off for 3rd and 4th place, losing that match again by only half a rounder to finish a worthy 4th place overall. The children played fantastically and showed great sportsmanship the entire afternoon. They were a credit to the school and should be very proud of themselves.

Quad Kids Competition

On Monday 12th June, 29 students from Year 4 took part in a QuadKids Athletics Competition at Edmondscote Athletics Track in Leamington Spa . They participated in 4 different sports: 400m run, long jump, javelin and a 50m sprint. They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and even the weather behaved - for a change!

BAE Roadshow visits All Saints'

The BAE Roadshow Team tours schools in UK to inspire young people to take an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.  The presentation explored the world of drones, the technology behind them and their many uses. They also explored computing and control systems that today's modern technology is built around.

The children enjoyed an exciting afternoon that included camera drones flying around the school hall and magic tricks. The final part of the afternoon featured a very special robot called MIA. Students were given the chance to pitch their wits against the robot who was definitely the star of the show!

Hockey Competition

On Thursday 16th March, eight children from year 5 and 6 took part in a hockey competition at North Leamington High School.  The children had great fun and did brilliantly by coming 5th in the competition, especially as they hadn't played as a team before!

World Book Day

On Wednesday 1st March we enjoyed celebrating World Book Day.  Children and staff came to school dressed as their favourite book character.  There were some amazing and very creative costumes!  Thank you to all parents and carers who made such an effort in helping the children look fabulous.

Ice-cream tasting

The whole school enjoyed a visit from Gallone's Ice-Cream who brought along a selection of wacky flavoured ice creams for us to try, all coloured yellow, to show us how much we eat with our eyes.  Some of the more unusual flavours were Thai green curry and grass!  The children also learned how ice-cream is made, the importance of a balanced diet and how ice-cream makes us happy, therefore positively affecting our mental well-being.

Young Voices Choir

At the Young Voices concert in January the Federation choir joined 6,500 children, in front of sell-out crowd of parents, to perform a show of diverse songs and actions with special guest stars. The show was conducted by David Lawrence, one of the UK's most versatile conductors.  The choir, led by Miss Mclean and Miss Painter, spent months rehearsing all the songs. Their behaviour and enthusiasm on the day was outstanding. It was thanks to the generosity of the Friends Associations that the children were able to take part in this event.

Christmas Lunch

Everyone enjoyed the festive feast!

Christmas Pantomime

All Saints' were wowed by the visiting pantomime. This adaptation of Aladdin allowed the children to sing and laugh along with plenty of 'he's behind you' and 'Oh no he didn't!'

Book Awards

Once again children at All Saints' have participated in the Warwickshire Junior Book Awards. They enjoyed reading the four shortlisted titles and voting for their favourites. On Tuesday 12th July they attended the award ceremony at the Spa Centre in Leamington Spa which was attended by the authors. The winning title was Stonebird by Mike Revell, a book which was really popular with our children. We now have autographed copies of all four books in the school library for everyone to enjoy.

We Are School Games Champions

A team of year 4 pupils won the level 3 tri-golf School Games competition at the University of Warwick. They won their place at the competition on Friday 8th July on the back of their winning performance at the level 2 tournament held earlier in the summer.  The children competed against schools and teams from across Warwickshire and Solihull who, like them, had won their level 2 games previously to qualify. Playing as a team they chipped and putted exceptionally well to emerge victorious. A fabulous achievement, well done Team All Saints’.

On the same day two teams from the school took part in the level 3 archery competition at the School Games. Competing against schools from across Warwickshire and Solihull the children had a great day, having the opportunity to refine their archery skills and to work well as a team. The children all had a great day and did themselves proud. Another well done to Team All Saints’!

Run For It

On Thursday 7th July a group of 25 children from all year groups walked to Edmondscote Track to participate in the Festival of Running, part of the Kids' Marathon Project by the charity Kids Run Free. Their participation in the event helped to add to their personal running goals, with 10 children reaching their full marathon - a great achievement. Everyone keep running, we are all looking forward to the start of the next academic year when the programme will all start again!

Let's Help Send My Friend to School

Children have once again taken part in the Send My Friend to School campaign. The focus this year has been on children across the world who are not able to go to school as they are refugees or have experienced natural disasters in their homelands. The children have all written persuasive letters to our MP and created paper 'rucksacks' with messages about what they think these children might need. On Friday 1st July the local MP Chris White came into school for a special assembly where he answered children's questions and received all of our letters.

Athletics At Aylesford

On Wednesday 22nd June children from throughout the school participated in the Warwick District Athletics Competition held at Aylesford School. Many schools across the area took part and all the children had a great time representing All Saints’. Congratulations especially go to Grace in year 3, Faith in year 4 and Annabel and Harvey in Year 6 for qualifying in the throwing event for the Central Area Primary Schools Athletics Competition at which will take place Edmondscote Track on Thursday 30th June, along with Daniel in year 3 in the long jump and Jasmine in year 5 in the high jump.

Rugby Winners

On Friday 17th June 12 children from years 4, 5 and 6 took part in a tag rugby tournament organised at Leamington Rugby Club by the RFU. They played a total of four matches throughout the day against teams from schools across Central Warwickshire and had a thoroughly enjoyable day. We emerged victorious at the end as the overall winners; this result was due to points added up throughout the day, given by the tournament organisers and the referees, all to do with fair play and how the players conducted themselves both on and off the field. The entire team displayed great attitude and sportsmanship in all their matches; well done Team All Saints!

It's All About The Dads

We helped the school's fathers celebrate the annual day in honour of them with a special breakfast before school.

Mini Tennis

On Tuesday 14th June a team of tennis players from years 4 and 6 attended the Central Area Mini Tennis Red Tournament in the Tennis Centre at The University of Warwick. Mini Tennis Red is for young players and is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It is just like the real game and gives younger players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots. The All Saints' pupils played against children from schools across the central area. It was a really enjoyable afternoon of tennis and the children all received certificates for participating.

Federation Choir at the Royal Albert Hall

The federation choir had the most amazing day on 14th June - the opportunity to perform on stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London. After learning songs during choir sessions in school with Miss McLean and Miss Painter the children travelled to London and rehearsed as part of a choir of 2000 children from across England, participating in the Armonico Consort AC Academy. In the evening they performed to a very enthusiastic audience of families and friends who had also travelled across the country to attend. The photos show our children, who were actually performing throughout from the centre of the stage. What an amazing experience, one which was thoroughly enjoyed by all of our children and families and will be one which we'll remember forever!

Run For It!

On 11th June 12 children from All Saints' formed a team to take part in the Festival of Sport at the Pump Room Gardens in Leamington Spa. Each child ran seven laps of the course to help the team complete a marathon. For their efforts they all received a medal and a goodie bag along with the satisfaction of getting ever closer to their personal goals of completing their own marathons!

Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations

Children at All Saints' joined in with the celebrations being held across the country to mark the Queen's 90th birthday. In a special assembly they learned about the Queen's role as the head of the Church of England and the importance of her faith in helping her throughout her life. We all love the logo created by another church school to mark her birthday. The children also learned about all the celebrations being held nationally and we joined in by holding our own afternoon tea party. It was a fabulous afternoon - the weather was amazing and the children had lots of fun marking the occasion.

Athletic Prowess

Twenty eight children from years 3 and 4 took part at the Quad Kids Athletics Competition at Edmondscote Athletics track in Leamington on 19th May. They took part in four events including throwing the javelin, 400 metres, long jump and 60 metre sprint. They came a worthy 8th place out of 14 teams.

Tri-Golf Champions

On Wednesday 4th May 20 boys and girls from years 4 and 5 attended a Tri-Golf competition at Leamington Golf Club, competing against 3 other schools from the local area. Tri-Golf is a mini version of golf designed specifically for young children. Most of our competitors had never tried the sport before, but they all had a great afternoon. They played lots of different games, totalling up many points for our team. It was rewarding to see our year 4 team win the competition to advance through to the next round to be held at the University of Warwick later on in the summer term! Our year 5 team also did themselves proud coming in second place.

Linda Wainscott, the Director of Education for the Diocese led a special assembly and blessing of our new Garden of Reflection in April. The ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Warwick, school governors and trustees from the King Henry VIII Endowed Trust, who supported the development of the garden.
